The Misty Badger Candle Company is a woman-owned mother-daughter business based in the Midwest. We created our company on the Summer Solstice in 2023, inspired by the natural world, magic, and all things bookish and cozy.

 Our Candles

All of our Misty Badger candles are hand-poured in small batches, made from an eco-friendly, smooth-melting, natural coconut-apricot wax blend (vegan, soy-free, gluten-free), and lead-free cotton wicks.

Our candle scents are original custom blends designed by us. We use a combination of essential oils and cruelty-free, premium, safe synthetic fragrance oils, and all of our ingredients are free of phthalates and parabens.

Each 7 oz. candle arrives in a lovely amber glass jar with a metal lid, perfect for protecting your fragrance now and for reusing later!

Reusing Your Candle Jar

When your Misty Badger candle has burned down to the last ¼”, it’s time to stop lighting it. However, you can still get some use out of it. Here’s what to do to extend the life of your product:

1. Put your room-temperature jar into the freezer for a little bit to allow the wax to shrink away from the sides of the jar. (I usually check back in an hour.)

2. Now you can pop the last little bits of hardened wax out by scraping along the inside bottom with a butter knife. Set them aside in a little container and save to melt in a scented wax warmer, if you have one. A bonus fragrance boost!

3. If the wick/disk on the bottom won’t pop out easily with your butter knife, grasp it with a pair of tweezers, skinny tongs, or other grasping tool you might have, and give a little tug; it should come off easily now. (I’ve even used the end of a pair of scissors.)

4. Wipe out the inside of the jar and the lid with a dry paper towel, and then a paper towel with a bit of rubbing alcohol on it, to remove any residual wax, wick adhesive, and/or fragrance. You can follow with a quick soap and water wash, if you choose, but be careful of the label if you’re keeping it on (they are pretty cute).

5. Optional: You can soak your candle jar overnight if you want to remove the label; you might need to finish with a product designed to get rid of adhesive residue.

6. Put the lid on, and your jar is ready for you! Use it to hold tiny treasures, stash office supplies, as a vase, for makeup brushes, etc.; use your imagination, but stick to non-food items, please. (Note: Our glass jars are recyclable, too, but reusing is more fun, and of course more sustainable.)

Candle Safety

Keep your home both cozy and safe by taking some simple precautions when burning any candle:

•Place your candle on a hard surface away from drafts, open windows, and flammable materials, and keep out of reach of pets and children.

•Always burn your candle within sight.

•Trim your wick to ¼” before lighting, to keep your flame from becoming too tall.

•Limit burn sessions to four hours at a time, and always extinguish your flame completely.

•While our scented oils are considered generally safe, be aware that some people or pets may have breathing issues that might make them more sensitive to any fragrance.
